Assistant Accountant - Account Payable

We are currently seeking a permanent full-time assistant accountant (accounts payable) ASAP who will be supporting and working in a close-knit Accounting team with relevant experience, right personality and qualifications. The ideal candidate must enjoy working a fast-paced working environment and have good work ethics, excellent communication skills, right attitude and min 1- 2 years’ relevant experience  in accounts payable.  Alternatively, someone who has experience in accounts receivable is willing to learn Account Payable function. The position is from 8 30 am to 5 pm.  Ideally we are looking for someone who can hit the ground running earlier than or latest from 12th June 2017. 

Job tasks and responsibilities 

The position entails managing the Accounts Payable Function in a timely and effective manner. Liaising with customers – both internal and external in regards to invoices and payments.

  • Coding and data entry of invoices received pertaining to administrative expenses
  • Processing of payments as they become due
  • Processing of requests for payments related to Operations via EFT, COMPAY and cheque
  • Preparing international settlements for Europe and South America region
  • Communicating with internal and external customers in regards to invoices and payments
  • Attending to suppliers enquiries and reconciliation of issues arising from payments, invoices and credit notes
  • Analysis of expenses and preparation of statistical data to monitor the increases and decreases of certain expenses
  • Summarizing daily disbursement in separate file: cheque, EFT and COMPAY for bank reconciliation purposes
  • Coordinating with branches regarding request for payments that require supporting documents
  • Managing the storage room (archive files)
  • Assisting with telephone enquiries
  • Other jobs or tasks as assigned from time to time

Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate must have experience and knowledge in Accounts Payable  

 Essential Selection Criteria

  • Min 1-2 years’ experience in Accounts Payable
  • Excellent people skills and communications skills (both verbal and written)
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills
  • Attention to detail (high-accuracy)
  • Good work ethics
  • Ability to follow directions
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Punctuality
  • Right to work in Australia without any work restriction

Optional

  • Cargowise Knowledge is ideal but not a must
  • Industry experience in forwarding operations
