Airfreight Operations Assistant

We are currently seeking a full-time Airfreight Operations Assistant who will be supporting and working in a close-knit Airfreight Ops team with relevant experience, excellent attitude and qualifications. The ideal candidate is someone with excellent people skills, work ethics and computer skills who is keen to learn learn a freight forwarding industry. You must be an enthusiastic learner in this very fast-paced working environment and handle pressure with ease.  A successful candidate will be provided with on-the-job-training, on-going support and other job related training and development opportunities

The working hours would be from 8 30 am to 5 pm. 

Job tasks and responsibilities

Providing clerical and operational assistance to the air freight department. Clerical function includes invoicing, completion of documentation, arranging of transport, liaising with customers, suppliers, government authorities and interstate/overseas offices and posting of invoices. 

  • Inputting of data into EDI and ensure the follow-through of all functions relating to each shipment.
  • Generating and sending excel reports to clients (such as estimated and confirmed arrival and delivery dates)
  • Making export airline bookings with airlines.
  • Maintaining airlines rates and charges.
  • Customer invoicing and creditor invoice processing in a timely manner.
  • Assist in warehouse operations from time to time as required.
  • Arranging transport in and out.
  • Assisting processing of data from company reports and reporting.
  • Maintaining the customer database and regular customer listing (Aviation Security) by ensuring information is correct and up-to-date.
  • Providing support to the branch – sales and customer service team.
  • Updating  import and export rate / quotation files

Skills and Experience

Essential Criteria

  • Excellent people skills
  • Good and positive attitude to gain knowledge and experience Air Freight Operations field (no Air Freight Operations experience required for the role)
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills 
  • Computer Skills in Microsoft programs 
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure
Desirable Criteria 
  • DG Acceptance” certificate would be an advantage
  • EDI/Cargowise knowledge
  • ICS knowledge
